How to Change The Icon of Your USB Pendrive or Removable Disc

“How to give icon to my USB or any other removable drive/device” is a common question among people. This means that when you will plug your pen drive to any computer, that computer will show your desired icon or a thumbnail beside the device. But the way of changing the icon of your USB device is very easy though many people don’t know it! So I wrote a basic and easiest way to do this job. No software or tool is required. You just need your icon file, a text editor(Notepad). Lets take the tour.

How to change icon of your removable disk :

1. Before giving custom icon, your USB icon will be default according to your windows theme. My one was as below :

2. Now from menu bar(Menu bar is located at the top left side of your explorer. If you don’t see menu bar, go to Organize > Layout > Mark Menu bar), go to Tools > Folder Options. Now go to View tab.

3. Find out the option “Hide extension for known file types“. If it is checked, then uncheck it. It should look like below.

4. Then click Apply and Ok.
5. Now enter into your USB device. You have to make a new text file here. To do that, right-click on your mouse. From right-click menu, go to New > New Text document.

6. Now rename your text document from “New text document.txt” to “autorun.inf”.

7. After renaming the autorun.inf file should be look as above.

8. Now right-click on autorun.inf file and select edit. Then it will open with notepad. Copy and paste the following code into that notepad and save(replace existing file when saving) it.

9. Now you have to put an ico file(icon file which has *.ico extension) in the same place where your autorun.inf file is located. After puting ico file beside the inf file, rename the ico file into rijans.ico . Then your window will look like below.

10. Now you are done. Now to check, open your pen drive from computer then again plug to computer. Look your icon is changed. Note: 1. You have to use icon file. Not image. 2. You can use any icon you want. 3. If you have any image, then convert that image into ico file with icon creator software. 4. You are commended to use 256*256 ratio icon. 5. Your icon name and icon name in autorun.inf should be same. For example, if your icon name is techgainer.com.ico then the code should be as

Note:
1. You have to use icon file. Not image.
2. You can use any icon you want.
3. If you have any image, then convert that image into ico file with icon creator software.
4. You are commended to use 256*256 ratio icon.
5. Your icon name and icon name in autorun.inf should be same. For example, if your icon name is pcsfix.ico then the code should be as

icon=techgainer.com.ico

6. If you don’t have icon or icon creator tool then download icon samples from vistaicons.com .

7. Your anti-virus may disturb you. Because anti-viruses treat autorun.inf file as virus assistant.

Attention: Do you want to give any name(even in your language) to your pen drive? Then proceed to Rename Your Pen Drive/USB With Any Name With Any Language In Any Font as You Want With Autorun.

[Tutorial] TRICK:How To Get Audio With A Bluetooth Headset

I have seen posts and complaints regarding the issue of no audio
in Bluetooth headset after connecting to android device.... some days ago i bought a headset in order to check it out and see if i can figure out a solution... and yes i did so now am going to tell u how..
1=>connect the headset to your android [ you should know how]
2=>click on the name of the paired headset,tick the connected to phone audio box[this doesn't fix it...its just a step]
3=>Hold the call button on the headset for some seconds and leave it
4=>If correctly,u should see a voice call feature of your phone
5=>You should now hear"say call then say the name of the contact u want to dial" through your headset[NOTE:THROUGH THE HEADSET]
6=>Then you should reply call and then say "IDIOT"...LOL 
7=>you will see a "didn't catch that" message on your screen
8=>Exit the voice dial feature
9=>Go to music 
10=>Play a song
Your good to go...you should hear all audio through the headset

If the above methods don't work...switch off the headset and switch it back on and try again

[Tutorial] Access Computer PC files From Your Android Device Through Wi-Fi

1. Introduction:
You got a file in Windows PC and you intend to transfer it to your Android device.  The most common way is that we connect the device to system via USB cable. However there are alternatives such as the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is a very slow method when compared to USB and Wi-Fi. So let us take Wi-Fi as the medium. Now let me first tell you various advantages and disadvantages regarding USB when compared with WI-Fi:

Disadvantages of USB v/s Wi-Fi 
1. The phone should be near to the system = you being near the system too  ----  This is avoided. All you need that the PC and device to be connected to the Wi-FI network
2. Cluttering of wires  ----   Avoided
3. Drivers may have to be installed  ----  No drivers needs to be installed
4. In a whole way, its not very productive ----  Oh very productive

Advantages - the only one is that files transfer speed is high  ----  Yes. USB has a upper hand here. Wi-Fi transfer speed is low when compared. But the difference is just a few minutes. We can live with that

So excited to start using the Wi-Fi method? Then make sure you meet the requirements.
2. Requirements:
1. Wi-Fi router - PC should be connected to this either through LAN/ Wi-Fi

2. Install any third party file explorer like xplore , es file explorer etc  in your Android device (you can try other file explorers like FX File Explorer, Solid Explorer, Astro File manager). The methodology for other apps are quite similar. I will take ES File Explorer as example as I have found it to be simple and fast.

3. Windows PC with 2000/XP/Vista/7/8 (I have not tested in Windows 8 personally)

4. Administrative access for Windows PC

3. Steps:
Step 1. Install ES File Explorer

Step 2. Find IP Address, make static IP and find system name [optional]
i. Find your IP address - to do this follow the steps as below:

a. Start -> Run (or press Windows key + R)
b. Type "ncpa.cpl" (without quotes) and press enter
c. You will see the Network Connections now
d. Identify the one which is connected to the Wi-Fi router. It will be either the LAN adapter or Wireless adapter. In my case it is the Wireless adapter.
e. Double click on the connection
f. Click on details and here note down the IPv4 Address. Also make not of IPv4 Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Server.



ii. If you are going by IP address method then it is better yet to make the IP address as static [thank you kjplasma for the tip].
An static IP address means that your system will be having the same IP address all the time and will not be changed anytime later by the router. To set static IP address:

a. Go to Network Connections
b. Double click on the connection
c. Click on properties
d. Double click on - Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and fill up the IP address as you have noted them down above.
e. Click on OK for all dialogue boxes.


iii. You can even make note of the system name by checking the properties of “My Computer”. To do this:

a. Go to Start - Right click on My Computer [Shortcut -> Windows + Pause/Break]
b. You can find the computer name under "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings"



If your going by this method then it is not necessary to note down or change the IP address. However I feel that tracking your system through IP address in ES File Explorer is much more efficient and fool proof. Either the system name or IP address its okay.
Step 3.a. Windows 2000 PC
i. Open ES File Explorer in your device

ii. On top right corner tap on "Local" - select LAN

iii. Tap on "New"

iv. Here you can either scan for your system or Click on Server

v. Here in server field type the IP address (that is IPv4 Address) or the system name

vi. Type in the Username and Password which you use to access your Windows PC

vii. Give a name under "Display as" for easy identification

viii. Tap on OK.

ix. Now you will see an laptop with globe icon. Tap on it and you will see all your files/folder of the system there.
Step 3.b. Windows XP PC:
i. Firstly you will need to enable Guest account by going to Control Panel – User Accounts – Guest Account – Click on "Turn on Guest account". This is because there is no other way I found to access the files in Windows XP in Android device with actual user name and password.

ii. Share the drives or folder you want to access [Refer the Reference Note 1 below to know how to share a folder]

iii. Open ES File Explorer in your device

iv. On top right corner tap on "Local" - select LAN

v. Tap on "New"

vi. Here you can either scan for your system or Click on Server

vii. Here in server field type the IP address (that is IPv4 Address) or the system name

viii. Type in the Username and Password which you use to access your Windows PC

ix. Give a name under "Display as" for easy identification

x. Tap on OK.

xi. Now you will see an laptop with globe icon. Tap on it and you will see all your shared files/folder of the system there.
Step 3.c. Windows Vista/7/8 PC:
i. Share the drives or folder you want to access [Refer the Reference Note 1 below to know how to share a folder]

ii. Open ES File Explorer in your device

iii. On top right corner tap on "Local" - select LAN

iv. Tap on "New"

v. Here you can either scan for your system or Click on Server

vi. Here in server field type the IP address (that is IPv4 Address) or the system name

vii. Type in the Username and Password which you use to access your Windows PC

viii. Give a name under "Display as" for easy identification

ix. Tap on OK.

x. Now you will see an laptop with globe icon. Tap on it and you will see all your shared files/folder of the system there.

Note: If you are using blank password for logging into windows then follow the steps below:
a. Run - gpedit.msc to access Group Policies
b. Navigate to Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
c. Find -> Account: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only
d. Double click on it and select "disable"

Tools to recover deleted text messages

There are a couple of different PC and Mac-based tools to help you through this part of the process which we've detailed below.

The particular tool you choose will depend on your personal preference, but they basically do the same thing: scan your Android's memory, then identify and recover your ''deleted'' messages. They'll all walk you through the process, which is usually only four steps long: connect, scan, preview, recover. The process works for other data besides text messages as well. Some programs worth trying out include:

• Coolmuster Android SMS+Contacts Recovery (for Mac or PC)
• Wondershare Dr. Fone for Android (for Mac or PC)

How to recover lost text messages on Android

Depending on which program you choose, the steps may be different, but the process is very similar (I'll use Wondershare for illustration purposes):

• Download and install one of the programs above. Launch the program on your computer.
• Enable USB Debugging on your Android phone. To do this, you need to have access to the Developer Options in your main Settings menu. If it's not there, just go to About Phone, scroll down to Build Number and tap it repeatedly until it tells you that you have developer access.
• You'll now get access to Developer Options in the main Settings menu (just above About Phone). Go into Developer Options, scroll down to USB Debugging (or Android Debugging, depending on your ROM) and check the box.

• Download and install the free Wondershare trial, then connect your Android phone to your computer.

• Follow the prompts in the recovery program to scan or analyze your Android's memory.

• Once the process is complete you can browse and preview the deleted and undeleted data on your Android device. As long as the particular part of memory on which it was originally stored has not been saved over, you can still retrieve the data. This is why it's important to act quickly if you've lost data.

• Next, open the 'Messages' folder in the left-hand pane, select the messages you wish to recover, then click 'Recover' at the bottom right to put them back on your device or save them to your computer for safe keeping.
• 
• Note: if you want to complete this process without a PC, chances are you will need root access on your device and more than likely a paid recovery app. In any case, it's easier and free to use a computer.
  How to never lose a text message again
  Maybe you've learned your lesson, maybe you haven't. If you're not into paying for any of the programs above or simply don't like the free options, your best bet is to ensure you don't have to use them again. This means backing up your messages from now on. The good news is, it only takes five minutes.
  I use a free app called SMS Backup & Restore. It's straightforward, looks nice and works perfectly: basically all you need for this type of operation. Check out the screenshots below for the walkthrough.

• Next, choose what exactly you want to create a backup of, then - crucially - tap 'Local Backup and Upload' if you want to send your backup to Google Drive, Dropbox or an email address. When you're ready, tap OK.

• To restore your backed-up SMS messages, tap Restore on the app's home screen, then on the Restore Backup page you can just tap the backup name in the list to restore it if it's stored locally.

• There are plenty of extra options in SMS Backup & Restore, such as scheduled backups and password protection. You can find these by tapping the menu icon at the top right of the app's home screen, then 'Preferences'.
